Safe ascent and descent on skies in glaciated terrain! As an experienced ski tourer you learn the basics to attempt ski tours in glacier terrain independently and on your own responsibility. The course includes basic rope and rescue techniques for glacier travel in high altitudes.

The following is a typical schedule with the guide fine tuning the plan according to the prevailing weather conditions and the experience of the group:

DAY 1:Travel by train from Innsbruck main station to Ötztal and then by bus to Sölden. In Sölden you can rent your equipment at INTERSPORT Rent. Transfer to your accommodation in Vent or for 1 night. After dinner: Preview of the activities of the week.
DAY 2:Ski training on the slope in order to check and improve the individual ski techniques and the physical condition of each member. Planning of the next day.
DAY 3: Ascent to Martin-Busch Hütte (2.501 m). Refresh standards, Stop or Go, revision of transceiver search, pin point, shovel strategy, introduction to rope techniques on glacier. Planning the next day.
DAY 4:Training tour with lots of content from the day before. Planning of the next day.
DAY 5: Glacier training moving on a rope, group management, decision-making, orientation. Planning the next day.
DAY 6: Training climbing technique with crampons, fixed anchors, rescue management and first aid. Planning the next day.
DAY 7:Training climbing technique with crampons, fixed anchors, rescue management and first aid. In the evening: reflections on the week.
DAY 8:Descent to Vent and farewell around 12:00.

In the evenings there will be theoretical units on orientation, reading maps, alpine dangers and alpine weather.

Anforderungen
18 years of age, free from mental and physical handicapFitness for ascents with skis up to 1.000 meters in altitude with your backpack (about 8 kg)Good experience in ski touringAble to ski uphill at 400m per hour for 3 continuous hours and be capable of doing that for 4 consecutive daysSki confidently off piste on steep slopes up to 35° (you can ride out most snow types without falls, able to respond to the guide´s instructionsGood knowledge of how to use transceiver, shovel and probe. Good technique walking with ski crampons and doing kick turns
