For experienced ski tourers, this course provides an opportunity to improve your techniques and skills on glaciated terrain and your ability to organise independent ski tours. There will be emphasis on mountain safety, avalanche awareness, glacier training and rescue techniques.

The following is a typical schedule with the guide fine tuning the plan according to the prevailing weather conditions and the experience of the group:

DAY 1: Bus 590 runs hourly from Innsbruck Kaiserschützenplatz to Neustift. Meet in Neustift at 12:00 at Hotel-Restaurant Hoferwirt in the centre of Neustift im Stubaital. You can rent your safety and ski equipment at Sport Stubal OG directly in Neustift. Together with the guide you will take a Taxi to Seduck, the starting point for your ascent to the Franz-Senn-Hütte, which takes about 3 hours. There is also a possibility for luggage transport to hut. After dinner: preview of the activities of the week.
DAY 2: Introduction to the equipment. Training tour refreshing technique for walking uphill, downhill, traverse, switchback, learning about elements of the avalanche status report (LLB) and its interpretation, repeating the use of avalanche emergency equipment, navigation on tour (map). Reflections on the day.
DAY 3 - 5: Training ski tours encouraging independent decision-making and implementation on tour including estimation of the terrain, lane setting, navigation with map, outdoor watch, compass and altimeter, smartphone with alpenvereinaktiv.com app. Stop or go and emergency avalanche procedures on tour (current evaluation and exercises, group searching, simple and complex searching scenarios, multiple burying). Improving shovel technique, first aid, emergency call (to mountain rescue) bivouac sack, ascent and descent on the rope, use of ice axe and crampons. On some days you will ski up to a Col, park your skies, walking/crambling up a ridge to a summit (roped or unroped).Crevasse rescue: techniques for rescuing partner and self (Münchhausen better to put avalanche rescue and snow burial practice), rope technique and securing ice (screws) on easy ridges and firn. Improving skiing technique, Group dynamics in the mountain. Reflections on the day.
The following peaks can be climbed during this course: Wildgratscharte (3.186 m), Lüsenser Fernerkogel (3.299 m), Westliche Seeespitze (3.355 m), Schrandele (3.393 m), Ruderhofspitze (3.474 m),
DAY 6: Final ski tour. Reflections on the day.
DAY 7: Farewell after breakfast. The guide will bring you down to Seduck continuing to Neustift im Stubaital. Luggage transport from the hut to the valley.

In the evenings there will be theoretical units on safety issues: weather, Stop or Go , emergency avalanche, navigation, alpenvereinaktiv.com app.

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS
We must carefully follow all national and local guidance regarding travel restrictions and social distancing. All participants must have face masks, hand sanitiser and alcohol wipes. In addition, for any courses which use mountain huts, all participants must bring their own sleeping bag, pillow case and towels and observe 1m distance in shared facilities. Face masks must be worn at all times except when eating or sleeping.

Anforderungen
18 years of age.Free from mental and physical handicap.Fitness to hike 1000 meters in altitude with your backpack (about 6 kg).Ski confidently off piste on moderately steep slopes up to 35° (you can ski most snow types without falls, able to respond to the guide´s instructions).Walk uphill on skis at 400m / hour for 3 continuous hours and be capable of doing this for 4 consecutive days.Completion of the Basic Ski Hochtouren Training or corresponding knowledge.
