Safe ascent and descent on skis in moderate terrain - the perfect choice for off piste skiers to start ski touring! You receive instructions for the use of skins, kick turns, safe riding, avalanche awareness and transceiver work, as well as search and rescue techniques.
The following is a typical schedule with the guide fine tuning the plan according to the prevailing weather conditions and the experience of the group:
DAY 1: From Innsbruck main station take a train to Steinach and bus 4145 to Obernberg. Welcome at Almi´s Berghotel. You can hire your rental equipment at Die Börse in Innsbruck. After dinner: Preview of the activities of the week.
DAY 2: Warming up on the piste: Ski training on the slope in order to check and improve the individual ski techniques and the physical condition of each member. Planning of the next day.
DAY 3: Introduction to standard equipment for ski touring. Training tour how to use skins and technique for walking uphill, learning about slope angle and snow types, how to use avalanche emergency equipment: transceiver search, probing, shovel strategy. Planning of the next day.
DAY 4-6: Training ski tours climbing alpine summits. Exercises on tour: avalanche bulletin, how to find the best track uphill and the best run downhill, standards on ascent and descent, avalanche rescue scenario (transceiver search, pin point, shovel strategy), forms and nature of terrain, orientation and weather observation. Planning of the next day.
DAY 7: If weather and the abilities of the members allow it: final ski tour to a nice summit over 2500 m. After dinner: reflections of the week
DAY 8: Farewell after breakfast
In the evenings, there will be lectures on how to plan a ski tour and safety issues: avalanche awareness based on the AV Strategy Stop or Go and Alpine Weather.

Anforderungen
18 years of age.Free from mental and physical handicap.Fitness to hike 700 meters in altitude with your backpack (about 6 kg).Ski confidently off piste on moderately steep slopes up to 30° (you can ski most snow types without falls, able to respond to the guide´s instructions).Walk uphill on skis at 300m/hour for 3 continuous hours and be capable of doing this for 4 consecutive days.
